26.7.2010 Crocs Eye Kangas
At the start of the year, few punters would have been brave enough to predict the Crocs winning four on the trot in the recombined AFLG competition for 2010. Not when both Munich and Rheinland have dominated previous seasons so convincingly. But an influx of new talent over the course of the season has seen the Crocs move from a traditionally lower ranked team to one of the toughest in the country. The winning streak that commenced against Munich and continued with convincing victories over Stuttgart and Rheinland extended this Saturday thanks to a crushing 147-7 win over Frankfurt. The travelling Redbacks pulled twelve players together for the trip north to Berlin. But after the opening bounce at rain-softened Schiller Park, it soon became clear the visitors had forgotten to bring any real desire to win. Their lack of fight allowed the home team to steamroll out of the centre and score 42 points in the first quarter of the match that quickly showed signs of becoming a very one-sided affair. The Frankfurters took a full half to even post their first and only goal for the match where few Berlin players were able to stand out, such was the overall skill of the Crocs as a team. Berlin dominated all over the park, shutting down the few attacks the Redbacks had to offer with methodical precision, while keeping the goal umpires busy with goal after goal in attack. In fact, the amount of kicks on goal clearly troubled both the flag wavers, who may or may not have erred when giving the all clear after one or two certain contentious shots went over the too-low goal posts. In the end however, these minor ‘possible’ misjudgments had little effect. It was a record winning margin for the Crocs that briefly put Berlin top of the AFLG table and sends another team in the south a warning signal ahead of the final round of the season:
The Crocs are coming…
13.7.2010 Crocs Too Damn Good
Rheinland arrived in Berlin with the temperature pushing 37 degrees. In that kind of heat, the last thing the Kölners wanted was a hard fight against the on-fire Crocs. But that is exactly what the Berliners delivered once the two squads lined up on Schiller Park’s equally unforgiving surface. With a Berlin Wall of a half-back line resisting everything Köln could throw at it, the Crocs opened the match by chalking up three unanswered goals. It took the Kölners until the second quarter to even notch a single point thanks to this rock solid defense put up by the likes of Dee, Burgo, Adrian, Cowboy and Chopper.
Berlin also dominated in the middle, with some tireless running work provided by Declan, Ben and Troy distributing the ball well to the forwards. Mike returned to the Crocs with a strong all-round performance in the centre half line, slotting away three goals. Jerome and Dov both added two as Berlin showed greater resilience and determination in the sun. But for all the team skills, humungous marks and flowing football, Berlin failed time and time again to put the game beyond the Kölners reach thanks to some woeful kicking in front of goal. Berlin had its defense to thank that the home team was not punished for their inaccuracies up the other end, since Köln was unable to really penetrate into the Crocs forward line the entire game.
By the last quarter, the visitors were already looking worse for wear, trailing on the score board by over thirty points and two men down to injuries. Rheinlands lack of reserves and Berlins physical and tactical supremacy meant the home team was able to run away with it in the end, eventually beating the Kölners by a convincing 52 points and once again making it clear that a game in Berlin this year is no longer a walk in the park of the poet, but a bruising encounter with a team that has got its sights firmly set on securing the capitals first AFLG premiership.
The word is out: Schiller Park is one hard ground.

30.6.2010 The Awsome 9-some!
A lean squad of just nine Berlin players made the six-hour trip for Saturdays critical away encounter against Stuttgart. A surprisingly low turnout considering the Crocs were fresh off a big upset over Munich and needed a win against the Emus to stay in finals contention.
Seeing the Berlin boys were not going to put up much of a challenge without a few extra players, Stuttgart graciously offered four of their own men and suggested a 12-a-side match on their narrow ground in a display of sportmanship not uncommon to the hospitible Emus.
Then with the opening bounce just minutes away, Berlin received yet another boon when a player from Hamburg appeared on the sidelines asking if he could don a Crocs jersey.
After Berlin had only just scraped together enough players to overcome the automatic eight-man forfeit rule, the Crocs chances of victory were starting to look a lot rosier than they had at the start of the day. The away team now had 14 players to work with, allowing them two much needed substitutions in the 28 degree heat.
With the player deficit partially evened out, acting captain Declan stepped up to win the toss and elected to kick down field on the Stuttgart pitch.
Berlin also won the first centre bounce thanks to the efforts of Steffen, the Stuttgart ring-in playing for the Crocs in the ruck. Comeback kid Pickles was using his go-go Gadget arms to outmark the big backman, while Wogboy showed his talent in his debut up-forward taking a ripper one-on-one grab. And with the coach booting two in successsion, the boys had the confidence they needed..
Good engine room work by Declan and Ben kept the Crocs in front for the remainder of the quarter, with their running work ably assisted by some reasonably solid defence from Crocs backmen Chopper, Joker and Cowboy. At the first break, Berlin were up by eight points and looking good.
Courageous Coach Troys message to the boys was Play your guts out till half-time, then we will reassess...the boys did exactly that with a blistering second quarter
The boys showed accuracy, pace and superior ball skills to up the ante over Stuttgart with Kebab filled Turk was ripping up the centre, while adding a few special goals down forward, Declan was running his guts out all over the ground, Chopper was playing the game of the season defending the massive forwardman and with Disco scooping up the ball and sweetly connecting a Torpedo, the Crocs posted five goals to half time. At the long break it was Berlin 64, Stuttgart 40.
A rejuvinated Stuttgart took the field in the third, taking advantage of a vacant Crocs centre to post four quick goals and nearly level the scores by the end of the quarter.
A midfield reshuffle and some we havet come this far to lose talk during the final break saw the Berlin boys take the field with one goal in mind, and that was to rediscover the form of the first two quarters and come away with the points.
Ably assisted in the middle by "its all about the past players" Jerome and the indefatigable Dec, Ben returned to the centre after spending the third quarter in the forward line recouperating from a cork. The tactical change reversed the trend back in favour of the Crocs, with the Berliners displaying some excellent arial skills, accurate shots on goal from all angles and the fighting spirit for which the Berlin Crocs are renowned.
There was even a poetry in the closing stages when Steffen the Emu ring-in kicked the Crocs final goal and his second for the match against his own team. If he was sad, we werent. The sweet irony simply iced an even sweeter victory.
Final score:
Berlin: 104
Stuttgart: 77
Goal scorers:
Jerome Goerke: 5
Ben Tiny: 3
Troy: 2
Dov Selby: 4
Steffen: 2
Declan: 1
14.6.2010 München muss nach Hause humpeln
Ausgehoppelt.

14.6.2010 Ex-Croc in the Tagesspiegel
Last weekend's newspaper brought an articel on Ex-Croc Christopher Jones.
1.6.2010 Crocs Sink Dockers
New coach Troy Pedder has notched up his first win. In a telling display, the crocs showed they can convert training track exercises onto gameday. The Crocs supported their fellow teamates with shepards, bumps and tackles. Most impressive was the Crocs clean posession and ground skills.
Dee took to the field for his comeback game, finding himself with the unsual role further up the ground, but didnt look uncomfortable booting 2 through the big sticks. Man of the match, Declan controlled the centre, grabbing and spoiling anything within reach from ground to clouds, he was an absolute Irish-machine.
Big man Mitch held strong and awaited his chances and with one-legged Tony and Troy sweepin the back, the game was never in doubt. Crocs by 7 goals (despite the big sticks still being illusive).
26.4.2010 Lions cruise to victory in Cologne
Round two began with a stirring tribute to the ANZACS and all victims of senseless conflict with the bugle call ‘The Last Post’ and a minute of respectful silence.
As the bugle’s call evaporated in the spring heat, the Lions were first to break the silence roaring to an early 39 point lead. The slick unified and well drilled Rheinlanders had all the answers in a term where Lions were left unmarked all over the paddock.
In the 2nd quarter Berlin learnt to respect their opponent's pace, tightening up their defence in what was to be their best quarter of the game. The Crocs scored their only goal for the match through a centre break and mark from latest addition Tony Witney and slowing Rheinland’s forward march ever so slightly
After the main break the lions turned up the heat with a dazzling display of pace, free flowing footy and aerial superiority. The visitor’s situation looked grim as Crocs didn’t once trouble the scorer with the board displaying 115:10 going into the last break.
Rheinland piled on the goals in the last term intensifying Berlin’s misery. Adding injury to insult courageous Croc’s midfielder Benno Bock was hospitalized by a late charge as he escorted the ball over the boundary line.
A fierce performance from Declan McCaffrey earned respect from friend and foe alike and resolute debutantes: Steffen Risse, Hannes Thormeyer & Eli Fair fought hard exceeding all expectations.

10.4.2010 Good start to the season
In the first round of this season, the fixture is Berlin Crocodiles vs. Stuttgart Emus. The fourth time these two teams have met. After two enthralling matches last season, both teams awaited this start of season keenly.
The Emus turned up with 15 blokes supported by four Crocs. But already in the first quarter, the Berliners showed the Baden-Württembergers whose home the capital is. Supported by the wind and especially by a strong midfield around Daniel “Ninja“ Karsch and Tom „Irish“ Mullins it was a three goal lead at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter the Crocs continued to play like in the first but lost their accuracy. During the second 20 minutes the forward-line around Mitch McKenzie, Till Rautenberg and Jirko Kampa managed to score 9 behinds. In the third and fourth quarter these players got their accurancy back so the Crocodiles finished thrashing the Emus by 68 points. In the last Quarter Geoff Rodoreda at least scored the consolation goal for the Emus.
This is definitely the best start of the season the Crocs had for the last couple of years. If the crocs can manage to show an equal performance against the Rheinland Lions in two weeks, they can give the premiers a good contest.
12.3.2010 Partner Club
The Berlin Crocodiles are proud to announce cooperation with the PRAGUE DRAGONS as our official Partner Club.
The Dragons and Crocodiles hope to organise several friendly matches during 2010 and we will be proud to advise any Crocs heading to Prague to get in touch with a Dragon and have a kick.

3.3.2010 Round-Up from Membership & Family Dayâ€
Thanks to everyone who was able to come last Sunday for the Crocs Membership/Family Day.
It was looking grim early, with the first rains of 2010 trying desperately to spoil the start of our illustrious 2010 training. Yet this didnt deter a keen Crocs crew immediately getting stuck into our first team task...patching together what is left of our 2009 marquee. It looked as though it had a tough off-season and in dire need of some trusty sticky tape to hold it firm through some early tough winds. With the Scout guidance of Brad McBride, we were able to huddle under and get reacquainted.
With a clear sky in the distance, this was enough to spur the boys to don the boots and get out on the snowless field. Connie clearly excited about the end of his winterschlaf, by wanting to start a mini pre-season game...you can never be too keen! The form looked pretty good from most the boys considering the lack of practise. Key position player/coach, Dee scouted the sidelines to hold the fort on the Crocs social-side, while forward liners Mitchy, Adrian and Disco ensured they kept uninjured for next week.
Captain Marvs BBQ worked a treat and with no sight of Mr G Will, we could only hope he was holding off his troops at the other end. The Crocs, family members and girlfriends donated kindly to their stomachs, devouring much of the 40 burger patties, 50 sausages and a few crates of beers, all in-order to pump up the Crocs balance sheet.
All-in-all the day was a real treat, with the sun shining for the majority and people paying for their food and drinks based on the trust system, which again worked brilliantly.
To the new faces of Burgo and Henham, we really look forward to get on the track with you guys and thanks for dropping-by. To the boys who werent able to come, we hope to see you this Sunday 2pm for a big training session.
We will hand around the new Membership Forms on Sunday for everyone to sign. For those who paid on Sunday, we still need you to fill-out the form and update details.
New guernseys are officially arriving tomorrow morning by 9am, after some typical German bureaucracy tried to hold-up order. We will bring these down on Sunday and create new photos for our player profiles on the website.
14.12.2009 Awards Night at Belushis 2009
What a fantastic night for the Berlin Crocodiles!
An unbelievable crowd indicated the start of a special night for the Berlin Crocs.
The night marked the beginning of a new 5-year sponsorship deal with Belushis, who showed their committment with an extremely tasty and plentiful buffet.
With a crowd of over 40 people, drinks and stories flowed. The night highlights included an emotional farewell speech from our stalward Franky, another top motivational speech from benny and some funny reinactments from our in-glorious award winners.
The light shone on our no.1 man for 2010, Petey, who most rewardingly won the 2009 Steven-Powell-Award (Best-And-Fairest) in the Crocs premiership year. Well Done!
The crocs raised a record amount of money for the club, which will be used towards away games. Everyone who´managed to join deserves a massive pat on the back. GO CROCS!!!
30.9.2009 Grand Final Day Review
Saturday´s Grand Final Day at Belushi´s kicked-off the Crocs 1st fundraising event for the coming 2010 season.
The day was a great success with over ¤100 raised (still be confirmed by Geordie, if he hasn´t gone on holiday). The boys scouted around the crowd throughout the game selling raffle tickets and proudly spreading the word of ´The Crocs´ big GF triumph. Mitchy was hitting up the microphone to announce the winners, with a very kind Ninja handing-back his 3rd round prize for a non-Croc to win.
Special mention goes out to our own ´digger´ Adrian for his shear hard work producing 200 magnificant crispy pies, which were devoured by the fans with a big grin.
This is the 1st of many fundraisers which will be the start to helping our boys get to the away games and hopefully even an end of season trip.
Next event will be the illustrious ´Berlin Crocs Awards Night´. Details to be announced by approx. 05th Oct, so get those shirts ironed and mummy to do up your tie!
Cheers from the Crocs Committee

8.9.2009 BERLIN WINS GRAND FINAL!!!
The AFLG Division B Grand Final was won by the Crocs. The Rheinland reserve grade team were unable to equal the effort of their senior team, going down to the Berlin Crocodiles by seven points. For the Crocs, the win marked their first premiership in any grade. The hard fought last quarter made the match a real thriller. Dee Pabst was best-on-ground. For Frank Donat it was a fine good bye: after over 40 games he will be blowing the whistle instead of kicking wobblers.
24.8.2009 Emus were good Crocs-bait
The 17 Emus on tour had no chance on Berlin turf against a fired-up Crocs side keen to play in the AFLG Div II Final. With 27 members, of whom 22 were playing, the Crocs had a long queue of desperate players on the sideline - interchange was consequently used throughout the game. The leadership-group around coach Dee and AFLQ player Benny kept positioning in order. Pommy guy Guy had his first ever Aussie Rules match and knew how to convince. Mark of the match was from Jerome who caught the ball in Cricket fashion horizontally stretched. Peter kicked a goal from almost behind the goal-line and under pressure: the goal of the match. Crocs veteran Che Chappy Chapman was honored with a last-quarter-appearance and kicked the final goal of the match.
18.8.2009 Game anouncement: Emus in Berlin
This Saturday will see one team make it to minor final in Frankfurt: the Berlin Crocodiles or the Stuttgart Emus. The Hauptstädter have a comfortable position at their last home game since the Emus must win with a very high margin. But it can be expected that the Crocs will go to their very limit.
COME AROUND AND WATCH A GREAT GAME!
Saturday, 2 pm , Schiller Park Oval
28.7.2009 Berlin looses in West Germany
Nothing can stop the Lions from Rheinland not even a strong and determined Crocs side. After a disappointing first quarter the score was 47 to 6. In the end the Lions won by 104 to 29. Luckily the Crocs have an opportunity for revenge: the Grand Final Day in Frankfurt this September.
23.7.2009 Game coming up
The Crocs will travel to Cologne this weekend to play a game against a strong Rheinland Lions second-string side. A great opportunity for our new German players to impress national coach Luke McBride.
19.7.2009 Record thrashing sees Crocs fly high
Berlin wins by a thumping margin against an understrength B team from the Munich Kangaroos . Final score at Schillerpark Oval yesterday was 130 to 23, which made a proud Crocs team stand on the more enjoyable side of a 100-point-thrashing. From 19 goals five went to Jirko Kampa und Disco each; Peter Neumann shrugged off his goal-kicking spell and slotted 4 in including one supergoal from behind the arch. Best Crocs on ground were Caveman and Magic Marvs in midfield, the Tank in the ruck and tagger Micha Foth in defence.
10.7.2009 last training with Ross
GFL player Ross Dillon has returned to Geelong. The Crocs feel grateful to Ross for his commitment as co-coach and player and wish him all the best back in Australia!
30.6.2009 Friendly vs. Amsterdam
Who can make out seven Berlin players?
A young Berlin side took on an experienced Amsterdam Team . The first half went to the guests but the furious Crocs got back on the track in an exciting and entertaining match. But the lead after the third quarter was not enough and the dutchies grabbed the win with four goals in front. Four unfortunate behinds from the Crocs in the final quarter gave away the game. Seven Berlin players pulled on the Blue and Orange and helped making it an even game. One of them, Disco Dove, was even best-on-ground. The Kampa brothers, Simon, Declan, Alex and James had their first game for Berlin.
8.6.2009 Second win gives Crocs a series
Ruck-man Geordie loads off a bomb.
Berlin wins in Stuttgart against the Stuttgart Emus. In an exciting last quarter Crocs mistakes and goals quickly alternated with those of the opponent. In the end, four points made the difference. A real hard-earned victory! Celebrations went on the whole night. Stuttgart is definitely a bonus for the AFLG - on and off the ground! Best players were Mitch and Ross: Mitch kicking another bag of six and unstoppable Ross kicking from all ranges. Ross lost 3 best-and-fairest votes by insulting the umpie as a blind, white maggot.
No-one catches Peter!
25.5.2009 FIRST WIN THIS SEASON
The clubs sponsor Belushis saw a cheerful group of Crocs sing the team song which has almost been forgotten since the last win 2007. Although outnumbered by four, the score was convincing with 16 goals to 9. Clever player-positioning from Coach Dee and pure team-spirit were the ingredients to victory. Our young talents Conny Hoeher, Peter Neumann and Till Rautenberg were again causing some painfull stings to the opponents. Speedy-Petes first game! It was left to troupers Ross Dillon and Mitchell McKenzie to finish off the Roos. Both booted five goals each.
The Crocs Celebrated at our favourite pub - Belushi's in Berlin!
22.5.2009 Crocs in Bavaria
The Crocs are on tour again! This time footy brings us to very deep Bavaria, where the Crocs will be wrestling with the Munich Roos. The match will be held at the new monastery venue in Fuerstenfeldbrueck . Who really deserves to be at the bottom of the AFLG ladder? Our boys keen on a big match and, of course, some true bavarian customs!
11.5.2009 Berlin gains some respect
The Crocs lost their firt league match of the season but showed great potential. After the Crocs dominated the first quarter, the Lions slowly gained momentum and came of with a 23 point lead.
Besides Aussies Ross and Dee, there were a lot of first gamers starring for the Crocs. Congrats to Andreas Schinkel, Eric Lee, Martin Hoeft, Till Rautenberg and Tobias Kaehler for their first footy match. Best Crocs were:
Fabian (Chopper) Lindner
Martin Hoeft
Tom Mullins
Keep it up!
Sadly, the game was interrupted by two injuries on the Rheinland side, which had to be treated in hospital. Fortunately, both could leave soon and were later seen at the Belushis drinking beer and giving ladies piggyback rides...

23.3.2009 Berlin loses in Amsterdam
After a long trip from Berlin to Amsterdam via Bad Bentheim, the Crocs suffered from daytime drowsiness in the first quarter of the friendly. With the wake-up-call in the first break the Crocs started to fire up and fight against a mainly Aussie Flying Dutchmen team. After a great combination up the field coach Dee scored a beautiful goal from 40 meters. Ruckmen Geordie was best player with his strong performance in the ruck and also in the crumbs. In the evening the team explored Amsterdam in all it's facets.
17.3.2009 Crocs visit Amsterdam

For Grand Final viewing locations in other cities around Australia, best idea is to view each club website. Each of the main football cities - Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Cologne will also have viewing locations.
9.7.2007 Australian Football Tri-Nations Serie
Australian Football Tri-Nations Serie:
Deutschland 11.11 (77) Schweden 11.6 (72)

What does it mean for passionate football fans in Europe... wake up really early, kickoff is at 6:30 am in the morning (berlin time). The Berlin Crocodiles will be watching in the Old Emerald Isle in Kreuzberg. Here you can grab a great coffee, a great breakfast and good beer during the match.
I recommend getting there a little earlier as it was packed last year with over a hundred people down for the match.
If you are looking for Aussie Rules Grand Final locations in other cities, details will be shortly posted on www.aflg.de. If you need to do a bit more research or convince your local bar owner to open up, the broadcast is on BSKYB (possibly 3) and has a special live telecaste from England.

14.7.2006 World Cup wrap up
The Australian Socceroos put in a stunning performance and after drawing with Croatia in the last game of the first round, qualified as second (behind Brazil) to advance into the next round.
This was beyond all expectations, Australia scoring their first ever world cup goals and points.. and advancing. The Australian´s were set to continue as they were in the dying seconds of ovetime (94th minute) in the 0:0 match against Italy on 26.06 in Kaiserslautern, Germany.

The Spanish referee Luis Medina Cantalejo awarded Fabio Grosso (Italy) an 11metre penalty kick afte he dived over Australian Lucas Neill. Although the penalty for diving (especially in the goal square) is a yellow card, Francesco Totti converted the 11 metre penalty giving the Italians a 1:0 lead and also an immediate game finish.
The Berlin Crocodiles, who followed each match together, congratulate the socceroos for their excellent spirit despite dubious umpiring decisions.

23.6.2006 World Cup - Australia succeed
For the first time ever, Australia have not only kicked goals in the world cup, but have finished second in Group F in the first round of the World Cup. This means that Australia is up against the winner of Group E, Italy.

The Berlin Crocodiles have been following all of the Australian matches (and more) very closely, in the ZDF arena in Potsdamer Platz, in the Adidas Arena infront of the Reichstag and for the last match with at least a hundred other Aussies in the famous Pfefferberg Beer Garden.
19.6.2006 The Berlin Crocodiles and World Cup
In conjunction with the world cup, Christopher Jones and Marvin Bense from the Crocs gave an interview with Radio Eins in the Kulture Brauerei, Prenzlauer Berg. The other invited guest was none other than the residing Mayor of Berlin, Klaus Wowereit.

The interview was live to coincide with the Australia verses Japan match. In the beginning Japan was leading 1 - 0 with a rather dubious goal, during the live telecast, Australia shot 3 goals to win their first ever World Cup Game.
The remaining Berlin Crocodiles players and supporters watched the game in Potsdamer Platz, Sony Centre during the live ZDF telecast. Of course, we are all for the Australian Socceroos.
6.6.2006 The Crocs still in good spirit
With windy wet weather, the crocs lost all form after the first quarter against Hamburg. Although they maintained possesion for most of the third quarter, the lack of conversions meant that Hamburg (7 14 56) took the match from the Crocs (1 3 9). Both teams partied together afterwards in the newly opened Pub in Prenzlauer Berg "The Bird".

The Berlin Crocodiles were beaten by Frankfurt on Saturday. Despite playing the first quarter 20 (berlin) to 25 (frankfurt), the following quarters saw the crocs unable to match the frankfurt goals. Despite the defeat it was a spirited and well challenged match. In the evening both teams met at the famous Prater beer garden to enjoy the good weather and beer together.

24.9.2005 Swans win 2005 AFL Grand Final
The mighty Sydney Swans won their first Grand Final in 75 years by four points (the last Grand Final win was in 1933).
The crocs joined a bunch of 50 Aussie travellers in the Old Emerald Isle Irish Pub early at 6 am and enjoyed a fun and exciting match. Although the Sydney Swans won each quater on points, the difference was no greater than 20 points and in the Final quarter West Coast Eagles took the lead with Sydney only scrapping through to regain the lead by a few points. In the dying minutes, with less that 1 goal difference the ball moved into the West Coast forward line and with a lot of desperation the Swans stopped each goal attempt which would have put the Eagles in front.
With tensions high and the ball barely moving back over the halfway mark, we were counting the seconds once the clock ticked over the 30 minute mark. In the dying seconds Leo Barry from the Swans took an amazing mark inside the West Coast 50 meter area and stole the final chance for West Coast to win.
Congratulations Swans.

Update
The first AFLG Training Camp was a complete success. Steve Barrat and Cam Jeffries lead the training of the 25 participants from all across Germany with special emphasis on skills and teamplay.

26.4.2004 Super Saisonauftakt
